Economic Impact of Solar Distributed Energy Development in California

For a major solar panel company, EDR Group (now EBP) conducted an analysis of the impacts on the California economy from various scenarios of solar distributed energy generation resources deployed under different scenarios for net energy metering tariffs.  The analysis was conducted to provide information for the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) in considering future policy.

Working with MRW Associates (which used the CPUC's Public Tool,) a new scenario model was developed for net energy metering supply outcomes such as bill savings, ratepayer effects, utility avoided costs, and customer investments.  EDR Group applied a statewide economic policy and forecasting model to translate these effects into impacts on jobs and gross state product.
