Economic & Tax Revenue Impacts of Offshore Wind in Maryland

For US Wind Inc., EBP estimated the economic impacts of constructing and operating a wind turbine manufacturing facility and offshore wind farm in Maryland.

The team used IMPLAN to analyze two manufacturing facility scenarios: one with the capacity to manufacture 28 turbine foundations and a second with the capacity to manufacture 82 foundations. EBP also analyzed three wind farm capacity scenarios: 412 MW, 809 MW, and 1205 MW. The analysis used a bill-of-goods approach to accurately reflect how in-state spending by US Wind will generate jobs, income, GDP, output, and tax revenue in Maryland. EBP’s analysis supported US Wind’s application to the Maryland Public Service Commission, whose approval is required to move forward with the project.
