Peter Plumeau Presents at Global Webinar on Post COVID and Roads: Planning for Economic Recovery

On March 24, 2021, EBP CEO Peter Plumeau presented at a global webinar by PIARC (World Road Association) on Post COVID and Roads: Planning for Economic Recovery.

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated key trends that directly affect transportation. It is clear now that all in the transportation industry are currently and will continue to be challenged to consider the role of transportation in an evolving “new normal” that includes differing views on personal, economic, and societal priorities. It is also clear that the pandemic and associated mitigation policies are affecting travel behavior as well as attitudes. For example, transportation planners are seeing changes that include significant shifts in transportation demand, supply, and performance. The objective of the webinar was to assist transportation planners to confidently determine the best path to address and manage the needs of the post-pandemic world.

Plumeau and Frank Bruns from EBP Switzerland, discussed the interactions of transportation investment and policy with economic activity and wider economic benefits and impacts, all framed by what the “new normal” may look like for transportation. They presented several case studies from recent projects and research as part of the session.
