South Coast Rail Team Wins Award
The Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) recently awarded its 2011 Grand Prize to the South Coast Rail Economic Development and Land Use Corridor Project, in which EDR Group was part of the team.
For the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation, under subcontract to Goody Clancy, EDR Group developed a comparative analysis of commuter rail alternatives for the proposed New Bedford-Fall River to Boston South Coast commuter rail extension. EDR Group’s role was to develop a regional economic development perspective for the 31-community study area. The regional perspective provided baseline economic profiles, trends and growth projections for the region. EDR group applied its TREDIS twice to evaluate user benefits and resulting economic development impacts for each alternative, once based on projected land use changes and the second time based on a prospective “smart growth” land use scenario.
