Glen spoke on the topic of "Wider Benefits of Public Transport: An Evolving Concept with Evolving Uses."
Later in the conference, Glen Weisbrod and Corinne Mulley (of the University of Sydney) presented a paper on the uses of economic impact analysis for assessing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) alternatives for the North Beaches corridor in Sydney, Australia. The paper shows how benefit-cost analysis (BCA) and economic impact analysis (EIA) approaches can be complementary, can address different questions, and can be used together to provide a more holistic evaluation of the value of a public transport infrastructure change. It provides the rationale for using an extended analysis EIA as a complement to the welfare based CBA, providing a different perspective for viewing the consequences if investment in public transport.
Glen has worked for the past 37 years on economic impact and benefit cost evaluation for a wide variety of transport and infrastructure programs and projects.
