As both air-side and ground-side transportation planning have evolved over time, there has been growing interest in both integration and consistency among the two, and how economic analysis can best improve capital planning for aviation facilities. One of the major issues has been how airport ground-side planning is integrated with broader road and transit planning, and whether there are new opportunities and needs for improving the practice of benefit/cost analysis for aviation.
In this setting, staff of EDR Group, now EBP US, engaged in a series of studies and presentations to discuss the application of benefit-cost analysis for aviation. Many of these issues are covered in a 2010 paper presentation to the Transportation Research Board.
