International Comparison of Transportation Cost-Benefit Appraisals

For the UK Department for Transport, EDR Group (now EBP) was part of an international team that compared methods used in different countries to evaluate, prioritize, and select surface transportation projects. The study compared cost-benefit analysis methods used in the UK, USA, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, New Zealand, and Australia.

It focused on differences in transportation benefit and cost measurement, as well as consideration of wider economic productivity and competitiveness factors, environmental externalities and other social factors. EDR Group authored the volume on US national and state DOT practices, and also contributed to the summary report, led by the University of Leeds.
