New Hampshire Statewide Pedestrian and Bicycle Transportation Plan

While New Hampshire enjoys nearly 500 miles of rail trails and greenways, the state is currently seeking to develop a network of bike facilities on state roadways and to infill gaps in the sidewalk network. Ultimately, the state’s first formal pedestrian and bicycle transportation plan will articulate new policies, programs and infrastructure projects intended to increase walking and bicycling in all regions of New Hampshire. As part of this effort, EBP is helping illustrate the value of New Hampshire’s non-motorized transportation system by estimating the ability of active transportation infrastructure generate safety, health, and environmental benefits to users. Illustrating these benefits will foster a deeper understanding among the state’s residents, elected officials, and public agencies of the contributions that investments in non-motorized transportation safety provides to local communities.
