EBP’s Analysis for APTA Plays Key Role in Transit Funding Provision of Newly Signed American Rescue Plan
On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act into law, including $30.5 billion for public transit agencies. Transit agencies have been hit hard by the pandemic, with a loss of fare revenue, as well as declines in other revenue sources, such as state and local taxes.

INFRA Grant Applications Due March 19, 2021
The USDOT announced a new round of competitive grants through the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) Program. The program is making one billion dollars available for "shovel ready" transportation infrastructure investments. The Notice of Funding Opportunity is available on the Build America Bureau website.

EBP Forecasts Public Transit Funding Needs as Pandemic Persists
For the American Public Transit Association (APTA), a nonprofit international association of 1,500 public and private sector organizations engaged in the public transit industry, EBP conducted an analysis of growing transit funding challenges precipitated by the pandemic across the U.S. Our analysis found that, even with the two rounds of emergency funding Congress provided in 2020, the nation’s public transit agencies still face a projected shortfall of $39.3 billion through the end of calendar year (CY) 2023 due to ongoing losses of fare revenue, tax revenue, and ridership.
